Crown Point

Crown Point is an alternative pop/rock band from Portland, OR. Drawing on the diverse resumes of its members, Crown Point plays memorable, meaningful, danceable rock. Formed in early 2010, Crown Point is set to release its first single to radio nationwide in April, and will be touring to SXSW in March.

Co-frontman and guitarist Russell Stafford, a native of Sydney, Australia, has enjoyed musical success across two continents. Following national television performances, radio appearances and rotation, and a development deal with Sony Australia, he moved to the United States at age 19. On the back of two solo releases (2005’s Freshwater and 2008’s Between U & I), he shared the stage with several national acts, including Augustana, Mat Kearney, Meese, Josh Radin, Russell Crowe & Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts, Anna Nalick, and more.  His singles have received airplay across the US, and in 2009, Crucial Music Publishing (LA) began using songs from his latest album, Between U & I, for select national broadcasters and independent films. Russell has done extensive benefit work for such organizations as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Red Cross.

Jon Davidson, Crown Point's other co-frontman and guitarist, is originally from Eau Claire, MI. He brings musical influences from both ends of the spectrum: he serves as the singer/screamer for the Portland-based hard rock act Silversafe, and has also built a successful career as a solo acoustic artist. As a member of Silversafe, Jon has played with such acts as Puddle Of Mudd, Saliva, The Exies, Hurt, Nonpoint, and Powerman 5000; as a solo artist, Jon has toured 5 countries and 35 states, and played everywhere from SXSW to the Alaska State Fair. The latest single off of his debut solo album, Perfect Cliché, spun on over 200 FM stations and charted on college radio's Hot 200 chart. He has appeared in Entertainment Weekly and performed on E! TV, NPR, and Fox and ABC affiliates. In 2008 and 2009, Jon played over 50 benefit events for causes meaningful to him, such as the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, and the American Heart Association.

Bassist Robert Finnbegan developing his style in the biggest little city of Reno, NV. Known for his slinky, fluid bass lines and versatility, he has played with a wide range of artists covering a broad spectrum of styles. In 2002, Finn united with local group Peace Mafia and was featured heavily on their release Connected. This album spawned the single “Revelator” which aired regularly on MTV2. Later that year he performed with the group on “Turn It Up TV”. Following his migration from Reno to Portland, he joined forces with Portland-based band Merrill, recorded on their latest release A Beautiful Disaster, and toured with the group in fall 2009. Robert often takes the opportunity to use his musical talent for those less fortunate by playing for a number of charities focused on helping underprivileged children - a cause close to his heart.

Tyler Chen, Crown Point’s hard-hitting drummer and backup vocalist, protégé and drum tech of legendary drummer Kirk Arrington of Metal Church, is best known for his drumming with the critically acclaimed bands Silversafe and The Slants. Tyler has performed across the globe, sharing the stage with groups such as Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Powerman 5000, Hurt, The Exies, Nonpoint, Metal Church and A Change of Pace, and received high praise for his drumming, songwriting and audio engineering work from renowned producer/engineer George Massenburg (James Taylor, Billy Joel, Dixie Chicks, Journey, Linda Ronstadt, Earth, Wind & Fire).
